Voters Be Damned: A "Benevolent" Dictator In The Making

It's being called a "velvet coup", but the key word is coup. To paraphrase Shakespeare, isn't a coup by any means, still a coup? Millions of voters have voted not once, but twice for term limits. All for naught. In this part of the country what voters want doesn't count.

The emerging dictator was a Democrat until he saw the opportunity to win as a Republican. He tells the guy before him who wanted to run for a third term that he can't, that it's wrong. He put that guy down as arrogant and going against the will of the people on term limits. Then he wins, does a good job and gets re-elected. But now his time is up.

No wait. He has money. He has a big ego, bigger than he is tall. He can't legally run again. So he cons the city council into telling the voters to feck off and they capitulate, and change the city charter against the twice-expressed wishes of the voters, and he is running again. This time he sees a different way to get "re-re-elected", so he changes his party affliation again, this time to Independent so he can get the endorsement, sanction, of both parties who will have weak candidates because they can't go up against his personal millions. Now he is the savior of all mankind, at least in his own mind.

Mike Bloomberg has no shame. He is an opportunist blowhard who likes playing mayor the way some folks like internet porn. He could run for governor, but can't win, so he crushes the will of his minions, just like a Hugo Chavez or Vladimir Putin does, but rewriting the rules, the city charter in this case. But there is indifference in the land, because he is rich Mike who is benevolent. Oh, then it's okay?!

This is not suppose to happen in America, but it is.
