I agree with Greg... This is ridiculous. It's people like you who kill acceptance of other viewpoints, opinions, and even cultures in our world. I'm very liberal, and I'm ashamed to see a blatantly untrue comparison like this posted on the web. Open your eyes. There's a whole world out there.

The author is talking about the fact that it is (or at least has been until very recently) legal to execute someone over 15. Since 18 is when you are legally an adult, you would have executed a child. All the articles below are actually from before 2005, when I'm about 90% sure that execution of minors became illegal. This is quite possibly one of the most narrow minded things I have ever read. It is utterly rediculous to make such wild assumptions about entire political groups. This list is no better than any other piece of propaganda and serves only to prove that you (and this Dr. Zaius) have zero understanding of conservative views but also of the liberal ideals you claim to believe are right. If you did maybe you'd realize that such mud slinging is counter productive and offensive. Go do some research and stop letting the side down.

This is typical distortion, people just assume that the Dems are somehow more ethical or compassionate, the truth is that both Dems and Repubs are controlled by the same people. Dems are just as bad as Repubs, the difference is that they are more deceptive about their activities. Many of the facts on this list are wrong, also..

Actually Greg, "Neocons" generally do favor executing children. There was a large fight over the US Senate's reservations to the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The United States was one of very few industrialized countries to continue executing individuals for crimes they committed when they were technically juveniles (i.e. 16). The US Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals consistently voted with a liberal/conservative line to uphold state laws permitting the execution of the mentally retarded and juveniles. In fact (and you can read this in the Senate Record), the only change in US law that came with signing the ICCPR was to restrict the execution of pregnant women. While he was Governor of Texas, George W. Bush notoriously executed both people who had committed the offenses while they were juveniles as well the mentally retarded. And while the US technically executed "adults" for crimes they committed while they were children, the rest of the civilized world banned this practice. Ted is right when he points out that this put the US in the same policy position as Al Qaeda. And though the US has banned this practice in the last few years, there are still "neocon" voices who would see policies reversed to allow the execution of individuals tried for crimes they committed when they were juveniles.

@Greg Dude, it says "right-wing neocon fundamentalists and the right-wing islamic fundamentalists". It doesn't generalize conservatives anywhere. The key term is "fundamentalist". Our nation has a great deal of both liberals and conservatives and we know that all conservatives don't believe in the same thing that neocon fundamentalists do.

I'm with Eric on his observation that "neocons" is very narrowly defined here. And Ryan has it pretty well spelled out about recent attitudes and practices concerning executing children. I note that Greg has not bothered to document the half he thinks is wrong.

I would also point out that both the comparison groups, Neocons and Osama, believe in the literal word of the Bible and Koran. In there we have "God" approving of genocide, including children, children who did nothing wrong: they were just the children of parents who were in the wrong city at the wrong time. For example, children were not spared when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, and when the Jews tried to leave Egypt, God commanded that the first borns be slaughtered. The fundamentalist I know, including my long-gone parents, made no apology for this genocide. And you probably will not find any who do to this day.

Josh and Eric are absolutely right in their assessment of what I wrote. I never meant to tar all conservatives, christians or muslims with the same brush. I know and respect many of these people, and enjoy debating our differences. However, I stand by what I wrote. I see little or no difference between the ultra-right-wing factions of neocon fundamentalists or islamic fundamentalists.
